Like our national parent organization, USGBC New York works to advance buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable to build and operate, and healthy places to live and work. We have made tremendous strides in our first five years -- training thousands of people on the basics of building green, hosting hundreds of educational seminars and technical workshops, building an audience of more than 4,000 subscribers to our weekly electronic newsletter, and doubling our membership in the first eight months of 2007 alone!

While these are all important successes, there's still much more to be done. Green building must evolve from headlines to common, everyday practice. To this end, USGBC New York has embarked on a major expansion of our programs. We are targeting three major areas: advocacy; a virtual green building resource center; and a green construction skills training program. To support these new initiatives and programs, and to answer the deluge of requests for assistance and training, we have more than doubled our staff.
