Program Areas
In addition to hosting events and educational programs, the U.S. Green Building Council, New York Chapter, undertakes major policy initiatives. Through relentless advocacy efforts, we help to change laws and policies, while other initiatives focus on matters such as the development of primary educational materials. These efforts facilitate market transformation and ease bottlenecks that hinder more widespread adoption of green building practices.
Our initiatives include these program areas:
Advocacy. Working with local, state, and institutional leaders to develop sustainable policy for the built environment. More info.
Green Construction Skills Training. Developing a curriculum to teach new green methods and skills to building trades and contractors. More info.
New York City Green Building Cost Study. Researching the costs and benefits of building green in New York City. More info.
Virtual Green Building Resource Center. Providing answers to questions about green building, including a series of checklists and pamphlets for different building types. More info.
