Committees

Committees are a great way to become involved in the New York Chapter and network with other green building industry professionals. Each group typically meets once a month at various locations throughout the New York City area.

Check our events calendar for details on committee meeting times and locations. For more information, contact the appropriate committee chair.

Programs & Education
The Programs & Education Committee organizes many of USGBC New York’s educational programs and events. These include green building tours, Haworth Master Classes in Sustainable Design, First Wednesdays and the Green Building Salon, as well as special, one-time events such as the LEEDers Awards.

Emerging Green Builders (EGB)
The Emerging Green Builders (EGB) committee consists of students and young professionals dedicated to becoming and recruiting the future leaders of the green building movement. EGB offers young people the opportunity to get involved with green building, gain access to USGBC resources, and participate in events. EGB runs the following programs: Natural Talent Design Competition, Project Earth Day Eco-Fashion Show, LEED Crash Course, and Semi-Annual Career Fair.

LEED
The LEED Committee works to continually improve the LEED Green Building Rating Systems, taking into account issues specific to dense, urban building environments.

Membership
The Membership Committee is responsible for increasing and diversifying USGBC New York’s membership. It plans programs and events to recruit and retain members.

Communications
The Communications Committee manages USGBC New York’s web site, weekly e-mail newsletter (gNews), and other communications with our members.
